Nancy Brown Reece

December 1, 1934 - June 4, 2016

Nancy Brown Reece, 81, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on June 4, 2016, with her husband at her side. Nancy was born in Glendale, SC to the late Horace and Addie Mae Hixson Brown. She was also predeceased by her sister, Marjorie Ruth Rushford.

She and her husband Sherman, moved to Norfolk in 1958. Nancy worked with Norfolk Newspaper for two years,then took  a position in the Administration Office of the Norfolk  Naval Air Station where she retired after twenty years of service.

One of Nancy’s passions was traveling.  After retirement she helped her husband with his company’s Travel Programs. This took her to many countries all over the world. She also enjoyed fun filled years of motor home travels.

She was an avid reader, enjoyed   doing eggery and loved all little animals.

Nancy’s other passion was her sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha International, where she was a 58 year member of the Alpha Xi Chapter. During that time she served in all offices on a local, state, and southeastern level. Nancy excelled in every way performing each office in a gracious and professional manner. She mentored many other members bringing out the best in each. Nancy knew her purpose in life was to help others and she carried out that purpose in a gracious manner.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 61 years Sherman, her sorority sisters, and a host of other friends and associates.

Sherman and their friends will be celebrating Nancy’s life Saturday 1:00pm, June 11, 2016 at The Hilton Doubletree Hotel, 1500 North Military Highway, Norfolk, Va. 23502.   Please join us!
