Nelma A. Pierce was born in Hampton, Virginia, on August 27, 1960. She departed this world March 4, 2020 at around 10:45 pm beside her husband, Thomas Pierce.
She married Tom Pierce on August 27, 1976. They lived in Hampton while Tom served in the USAF.
In 1979 Tom and Nelma moved to England, having 3 girls, they returned to Columbus AFB in 1981 where they lived for 3 years. They returned to Newport News, where they became members of Abundant Life Tabernacle under Rev. Glenn Jones until they moved north. Nelma and Tom expanded their family and had 3 boys.
Nelma was a devoted wife and mother to her children, while at the same time she worked as a daycare worker and nanny of 3 young children, the youngest being 2 weeks.
Her heart was devoted to all her children, a foster mom to over 50 children for 10 years.
She also loved all people, as she never met a stranger.
Nelma is now in God’s loving presence. She will be truly missed by her family and friends; especially her husband and son, Joshua.

Only met her a couple of times. She seemed very sweet, and loving. She was loved by many. May God and Jesus walk with her through the gates of heaven.

My sweet cousin, so many memories we shared. Remembering us as younger little girls. You always laughing and smiling till we had tears rolling down our faces. The day you got married and I helped set up your reception at the house. I hope Uncle Nelson was waiting to walk you through the gates of heaven. We will forever miss you here on earth but those gone before us were missing you to. I’m sure it was a wonderful reunion in heaven. Until we meet again, KEEP SMILING
