Nina Mae Carter, 87, of Williamsburg, passed away on September 4, 2021.
Nina was the loving wife of Jack Carter, who preceded her in death in 2007. She was a graduate of Matthew Whaley High School and attended the College of William and Mary. Nina worked in her younger years for Colonial Williamsburg as a hostess at King’s Arms Tavern and as a salesperson at the Williamsburg Craft House. Nina had many interests throughout her life. She loved the outdoors and she enjoyed morning walks with her best friend, Anne and husband, Jack. She loved gardening and tended many vegetable and flower gardens over her lifetime. She loved her children and grandchildren, as well as many neighborhood children. She was an avid reader and she loved to cook. She loved sports, particularly William and Mary football. She and her husband Jack attended many football games. She resided at Morningside of Williamsburg where she will be remembered for her passion for life and her beautiful smile.
Nina was preceded in death by her husband, John Richmond “Jack” Carter, Sr.; and parents Kenneth Devillo Briggs, Sr. and Louise Tudor Briggs; and siblings, Jean Baldwin, Kenneth Briggs, Jr., and Nancy Briggs. She is survived by her son, John R. Carter, Jr. and wife Karen L. Carter; daughters, Mary Louise Carter, Cathy Huff and her husband, Mark Huff; and grandchildren, William Robert Carter, Katelyn Page Carter, and Mark Carter Huff.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
