Norma Jean Adams, age 79, Virginia Beach, Virginia, peacefully passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 6, 2021. She spent her last moments surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.
In addition to her beloved parents, Henry and Virginia Reed, (nee Fridley), she was preceded in death by her brothers, Walden Reed, Charles Reed, James Reed, and Robert Reed, her only sister, Frances Piland, and her former husband, Norman Adams. Left to cherish her memory are her brother, Houston Reed, her children, Beth (Curtis) Ashley, Linda (Ron) Silva, Luke (Lorraine) Everton, and Tonya Smith. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Joshua, Brittany, Abigail, and Laura, eight adored great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was born in Staunton, Virginia on February 6, graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, and was a member of Spurgeon Memorial Baptist Church. After years as a homemaker, she pursued her passion for collecting antiques and opened a shop in Norfolk. She eventually had shops in Abilene and Farmville as well. An accomplished dancer, she travelled extensively with her dance troupe, appeared on television, and taught dance classes to seniors. She generously gave of her time at Russell House, where she served as the chair of the Welcome Committee and a member of myriad other committees.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Southside Chapel, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach on Sunday, May 16, 2021
