Olivia Gardner Stanley was born on December 3, 1986 in Shreveport, Louisiana, where she was raised until adulthood. She then moved to South Korea to get married at the US embassy in Seoul to Steve. Eventually they moved to Germany, California, and Virginia.
She obtained a Masters of Social Work from University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Maryland University College.
Olivia was brave, fearless and always stood up for what she believed was right. She would drop everything to help a friend in need. She cared for others deeply and with a compassionate heart. She loved animals (especially pigs), being a social worker, music, art and so much more. She shared her joy freely with the world and never once asked for anything in return. She wasn’t perfect, but she was perfect for this world. She left an imprint on every heart she touched. She loved to have fun, and would do anything to put a smile on anyone’s face, including strangers. She was goofy, fun loving and had an amazing, contagious laugh. Her smile always reached her eyes.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Stanley; mother, Karen Gardner; brothers, Mike and Anthony Gardner; close friends, Melissa Gardner and Miki Goodwin; god-children, Kaelynn, Robert Keith, and Angel Olivia; and her Uncle Gary and Aunt Debbie Gardner. She is preceded in death by her father, Gerry Gardner.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, from 2pm to 3pm, followed by a memorial service, at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Ave, Newport News, VA.
