Pali Divitotawela

September 29, 1950 - July 9, 2020

It is with profound sadness that the family of Pali Divitotawela announces his unexpected passing on July 9th, 2020.  He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Niranji Divitotawela, son Niroshen Divitotawela and daughter, Shalini Divitotawela. He is also survived by his brother and sister who currently live in Sri Lanka. Pali who was born in Sri Lanka, migrated to the United States in 1989 with his wife.

Pali together with his wife founded the Montessori Academy of Virginia with campuses in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and Suffolk. Teaching hundreds of children over the years, their commitment to early education and quality was their shared passion and life’s work. His gentle manners and easy laughter made everyone who knew him feel his exceptional graciousness and humility. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone he interacted with as well as those he reached to but never met; his life may seem short to many, but those who were touched by him understood that the quality of his life far exceeded the quantity of time.

Forever remembered and deeply missed; may he rest in peace.

What our families say...

In my opinion, there is no better facility in Virginia than Altmeyer Funeral Homes. Not only was Chris Sisler there to hold my hand every step of the way, his family members were holding the door on the day of the funeral to help and encourage me. I will never forget their grace. He led me and my family through the process as a personal friend and neighbor, and as the ultimate professional.
