Peter Jonathan Lorts

June 27, 1976 - July 17, 2021

Peter Jonathan Lorts, 45, passed away on July 17, 2021, in Virginia Beach. Peter was born in Rochester, New York, on June 27, 1976. He is survived by his parents, John and Janet Lorts, and his sister, Amanda Lorts Harding, brother-in-law, Tim Harding, and their sons, Judah and Jack. Peter loved all of his family … but most of all … his nephews. Peter was so excited to become an uncle for the first time in 2009. The Sanderl family was a big part of Peter’s “extended family’ for the majority of his life, spending all holidays and birthdays together. Peter is also survived by loving family members in St. Louis, MO.
Peter was involved in Special Olympics for many years, enjoying speed ice skating, roller skating, basketball, softball, soccer, swimming, track & field and volleyball.

Peter was facing very difficult medical issues and we, his family and friends, are blessed to know he is now free of worry, fear and anxiety. He had thoroughly enjoyed the last few weeks of his life with many special things happening and we now believe that the events of those last two weeks.. the happy times.. were all part of God’s plan for his life.

A memorial service will be held at Kings Grant Baptist Church on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to ‘Special Olympics Virginia’.

What our families say...

My family and I are grateful to Angie and the entire Altmeyer team for providing a thoughtful viewing and funeral service for my Auntie. They were kind and respectful through the entire process, listening attentively and carrying out our requests with compassion. Thank you for your help, but most importantly, thank you for your sincerity!
