Phil is survived by his one Sister Lee Bradshaw (California); three Brothers, William (Bill) Klinefelter (Florida), John Klinefelter (Connecticut), and Kevin Klinefelter (Connecticut); and his bride of 59 years, Gloria Klinefelter. Together they raised six (6) children, Melva (Susie) Edwards, Ross Klinefelter, predeceased daughter Laura Mosakowski, Michael Klinefelter (Carmen), Carol Watson (Tony), and Amy Grandle (Darryl); 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one (1) great great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.
Phil was a Machinist Mate, 2nd Class in the US Navy and served on the USS McCaffrey. He was a proud member of the New England Teamsters Union and had a successful career with the United Parcel Service (UPS) until he retired. A long-time life member of the VFW, he served as canteen manager at VFW Post 4809 for 17 years.
Phil was a true American patriot and supported Veterans in any way he could. He was a very proud New Englander and loved the fall colors up North. As noted above, Phil was a devoted New York Yankee fan and loved all things baseball. Each season he and his brothers would have an ongoing bet for 30 packs that were passed back and forth between them. Golfing with friends, family or just hitting a bucket of balls is something else he enjoyed very much.
Called Poppy, Pop Pop, or Big Poppy, by all the grandchildren he was a true family man and enjoyed all the loud chaos that comes with a large family. He was very proud of all his children and grandchildren and loved all of them unconditionally and completely.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to VFW Post 4809, 5728 Bartee Street, Norfolk, VA. 23502.
