Richard (Rick) Lee Tingle, Jr., 57, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, after a valiant battle with lung cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Julie Morrison, and two sons, Richard Lee III and Thomas James; his parents Richard Lee Sr. and Barbara Ann Campbell Tingle, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rick graduated from both Kempsville High School and Commonwealth College. He had a natural affinity for all things technical, mechanical and engineering. He spent his career working with government contractors for the U.S. military. His work took him worldwide.
Rick loved spending time at Lake Gaston, boating, and spending time with his family. His pride and joy were his sons, which he took great interest in teaching them everything about how things were built, how they worked, and, more importantly how to fix them. At any given time, there were many projects being explored. He was extremely devoted to his wife, his parents, and extended family. He will be dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00pm at First Baptist Church of Norfolk, 312 Kempsville Road, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Lung Association or a charity of your choice.
