CHESAPEAKE – Rita Marie Walker, 72, died January 22, 2022.  Rita was born in Greensboro, NC to the late Carl and Marie Bowman Stanley.  She was a homemaker who enjoyed doing crafts and decorating.  Christmas was her favorite time of the year for decorating and crafting.  Rita loved shopping and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her husband, James Walker and her best friend, Pam Terry.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter, Melissa M. Marques and her husband, Ricardo of Chesapeake; sister, Betty Jane “Jannie” Smith and her husband Kelly of Greensboro; grandchildren, Destiny Marques, Deborah Haislip, Magdalyn Haislip, and Hayleigh Marques; close friend who was like a daughter, Tracy Tilley; and a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, February 5th at Geneva Park Church of Christ.  Memorial donations may be made to www.TMCFunding.com, to help the family with the unforeseen expenses that have arisen from Rita’s sudden and unexpected death.

Rest Easy Rita I know u and mama are having the time of ur life up there together but know everyone still here misses u… you were like a mother to me I always said while Melissa and I were growing up that it was like u and my parents were co- parents to both of us… I love u so much. And am honored to have had u in my life… WAKA WAKA WAKA !!!!!!

RIP RITA our friendship goes back more then 5 years or around there, rita and james, eones, and myboomer plce, enjoy the games, rita was like my best friend. her and james. my deepest symaphy goes out with the family..
