Robert C. Hall, age 78, of Sandbridge, VA passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021 surrounded by his wife Mary and their three children. Bob was born on October 7, 1942 in Schenectady, New York.
After graduating from Christian Brothers Academy and Siena College, Bob became a New York State Trooper. After three years, he became a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. In his twenty years as an Agent, he spent many years on protective details, during which he protected five different presidents and members of their families, as well as visiting dignitaries and presidential candidates. He also did field office work in Syracuse and Buffalo, New York, Mobile, Alabama and Washington, DC. After retiring from active duty, he became a private contractor for multiple government agencies, conducting background investigations and performance reviews on agency employees.
Bob was a respected member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where he and Mary found a true church home and where he served as an usher and a Trustee. Bob had a sincere love for God, a profound wonder that God accepted and loved him, and he spent his free time learning all he could about the Bible. He also loved the New York Yankees, the Baltimore Ravens, the beach, his dog Lexi, growing roses, and fishing. Bob and Mary enjoyed traveling, especially their three trips to the Holy Land and their trips to Jordan.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Baumgartner Hall, his children, Robert Hall of Sandbridge, VA, Kristen (Kim) Hart of Virginia Beach, VA, and Regan (Joel) Vaughan of Amman, Jordan; and the joys of his life, his 10 grandchildren, Matthew, Maia, Marie, Caleb, Kate, Elizabeth, Ezra, Malachi, Darby, and Salem, plus two bonus adult grandchildren, Amelia and Moustafa.
A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 19, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church on 1265 Sandbridge Road.
We would be honored if donations in memory of Bob were made to Tabernacle United Methodist Church or to the Community Coalition for Haiti, PO Box 1222, Vienna, VA 22183, which is a charity he valued and supported.
