Robert Lowell Mace, 55, went to be with the Lord on March 31, 2021. Robert was born in Richmond, Virginia to Robert Lowell Van Dyke and Kathleen Johns on March 1, 1966.

Robert grew up in Blackstone, Virginia before joining the Navy. During his enlistment he was assigned to John F. Kennedy (CV-67). He served his country proudly from December 1985 until April 1993 when he was honorably discharged. Most recently, Robert was employed at the Elizabeth Manor Golf Course in Portsmouth, where he loved to work.

Robert is preceded in death by his adoptive parents Robert Franklin Mace and Anna Lucille Shifflett from Grottoes, Virginia; aunts, Maxine Moore, Fannie Young, Barbara Sparks and uncles George, John Sr., and Earnest Johns.

Left to cherish his loving memory are his children, Michelle and Christopher Mace & Holly Schmidt; parents, Herbert and Kathleen Fabricius; grandchild, Skylar Lace; siblings, Jesse Mace and Jamie Elizabeth Fields (Billy); step sisters, Joni White and Jo Marie Schiebel; aunts, Nancy Cabino and Mary Lou Ginn; uncle, Joseph Johns; niece, Allison Mace; nephew, Anthony Mace; special friends, David Webb, Cindy Martin, Teri Casey, Wally, Mr. John Meager and family, and anyone else who isn’t mentioned. You were all very special to Robert and he loved every one of you.

Robert’s visitation will take place on Friday, April 9th from 10:00 AM until 11:00AM with services immediately following at Altmeyer Funeral Home Southside Chapel (5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23462). Burial will follow the service at Albert G Horton Jr, Memorial Veterans Cemetery (5310 Milner’s Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434).
