Stewart Howard (53) entered this world on December 20, 1965 and passed away on February 21, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was a husband, father, son, brother and friend to many. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Darlene, of 29 years; children, Robert Stewart III (Avery) and Cecelia; father, Robert Stewart Sr. and mother Sadie Rose Howard; three sisters, Debbie (Fabin), Donna (Danny) and Pam (Odean); and a host of nieces, nephews and other family, Stewart Howard was born in Norfolk, Virginia and grew up in Kempsville. He graduated from Kempsville High School in 1984 and attended Tidewater Central Church of the Nazarene. Stewart worked with his father at their family business “Triple HHH Builders” remodeling homes across the city. He also dedicated 18 yrs to Chrysler Museum of Art as the Director of Operations. Stewart spent the last 15 years dedicated to his work at Norfolk Academy as Director of Buildings and Grounds.

Outside of work, Stewart enjoyed cooking and entertaining his friends and family. Through his business “Over the Top Catering” he was able to share his passion for food. Stewart could often be found at the lacrosse field or softball field supporting his kids as he and Darlene were their biggest fans.
In recent years, Stewart found peace and relaxation at a family lake house in Lake Gaston, where he relished in family time, laughter, and of course cooking. These are the memories he has left for his loved ones to cherish.

Stewart and I worked at the Chrysler Museum for 13 years and Stewart was one of the best maintenance workers we had. He and I had a close relationship since we were both Christians and dedicated to the job. My condolences and blessings to you and your family

This news is heartbreaking. I grew up in the same Nazarene church with Stewart and the rest of his family. I haven’t seen him in over 30 years. He was a funny kid growing up. Always respectful of people. Bobby and Rose raised a fine son. My sincerest condolences go out to Bobby, Rose, Debbie, Pam and Donna and the rest of the family.

Please accept our sincere sympathy in your great loss. Oh, how we have loved the Howard family since our Tidewater Central Church days. We had great fellowship. Prayerfully, we trust many are in Heaven today because of the service of the Howard’s as they worked hard on the bus ministry. We have prayed for Stewart during this battle for life. God had a better plan. And one day, the trump will sound and we will know it’s reunion time. Praying for peace and great comfort.
