Ruth Wolfe

October 13, 1922 - January 14, 2021

As a proud Army wife for over 3 decades, Ruth spent many years moving frequently to various locations throughout the United States, Italy, and Turkey, making a comfortable home for her family and forging enduring friendships wherever she lived. With her outgoing nature, adventurous spirit, and amazing memory, she loved to amuse family and friends with great stories of her experiences.

Ruth was an avid gardener, talented knitter, accomplished seamstress, and creator of beautiful crewel work. She volunteered in many activities over the years, and was an active member of her bowling league into her late 70s. She remained engaged and interested in world events, neighborhood happenings, and family news until her final days.

Ruth’s pride and joy was her family. She was predeceased by her husband Melvin and her son Steven. She is survived by her children Donna White, Karen Stotsky, Mike Wolfe, Brian Wolfe and their spouses; 11 grandchildren and their spouses; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. The family would like to express their gratitude to Ruth’s caregivers and neighbors, who provided much appreciated comfort and support, especially in Ruth’s final months. Heartfelt thanks are also extended to the Virginia Health Hospice nurses for their compassionate care and expertise.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Ruth will be buried alongside her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care of Altmeyer Funeral Home Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, Virginia.
