Stanley J. Hankinson, 84, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2018, in Virginia Beach, VA.
Born in Allentown, PA on July 13, 1933 to Stanley A. and Dorothy V. Hankinson, “Jack” was the
eldest of four children. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Robert, Charles, and Barbara.
On December 11, 1954 he married Barbara J. Gesek, the love of his life, who preceded him in
death. Together they raised six children.

He is survived by his children Stanley (LaDonna), Suzanne Hook, Sharon Pitz (Scott), Stephen
(Susan), Scott (Marie), and John (Dawn). Fifteen Grandchildren, Cynthia Goldstine(Justin),
Derrick Hook, Natalie Sprague (Kyle), Jacob Hankinson, Rachel Hankinson, Rebekkah
Richards, Benjamin Hankinson, Zachary Hankinson, Zandra Hankinson, Garrett Richards,
Michael Hankinson, David Hankinson, Samantha Pitz, Carson Hankinson, Gabrielle Hankinson.
Four Great-Grandchildren, Madison, Alexander, David, and Jacson. Nieces Anne and Kim along
with Nephews, Robert, Richard, and Randy. He was annoyingly known by medical staff as
yelnatS nosniknaH.

He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy for two years. He was employed by
Bell Laboratories and New Jersey Bell, where he retired after 38 years in 1992. He was a
member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, Lodge #2356, Sparta, NJ. He volunteered at
the Portsmouth Children’s Museum, Portsmouth, VA.

The family will receive visitors for a life celebration on Saturday, March 17, 2018 beginning at
10:15am at Star of the Sea Church, 1404 Pacific Avenue, Virginia Beach, VA. 23451 followed by
a Mass of the Resurrection officiated by Fr. Esteban DeLeon at 11:00am. Interment will be at
Union Cemetery, Hackettstown, NJ at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stanley’s name to Portsmouth Children’s Museum
221 High St. Portsmouth, VA 23704 or Special Olympics VA, 184 Business Park Dr. #202, 
Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
