Stella Washington went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at age 72 in Virginia Beach, VA. Stella was born to Mary Jo and Charles Jackson in 1948 in West Virginia.

She went to Shepherdstown High School and then began her studies at Shepherd College.  She later went on to receive an Associate’s Degree from Tidewater Community College.

51 years ago, Stella married Thomas Washington in Shepherdstown, WV and then relocated to Virginia Beach, VA.  They raised three daughters, Wanda, Elisha, and Jerrica, but Stella was a “mom” and “aunt” to many more. Stella retired from the Virginia Beach Public School System in 2013 and in her spare time, she loved reading, finding a bargain, and watching Family Feud.

She is preceded by her parents, and siblings Majid Ali, and Belinda “Kay” Russell.

Stella is survived by her husband, daughters, and grandchildren – Alexis, Marquis, Nate Jr, and Sydney.  Additionally, she is survived by her brothers- Mark and Jalal Ali, and her sisters- Arthelia, Gwendolyn, Janet, and Christina.

A visitation will be held Monday May 24th, 6PM – 8PM in Altmeyer Funeral Home 5033 Rouse Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Funeral & Reception, Tuesday May 25th, 10AM at Freedom Fellowship 836 Regency Dr, Virginia Beach, VA 23454. Her burial will take place Tuesday May 25th, 2PM, Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery 5310 Milners Rd, Suffolk, VA 23434. Condolences may be left for the family at
