After graduating from Indian River High School in 1981, Susan worked for several years at Elizabeth River Baptist Church Day Care. In 1986 Susan began working in the circulation department at the Virginian Pilot & Ledger Star. In 1991 Susan married the love of her life, James Earl Caroon. They celebrated their 27th anniversary on October 5th. Susan was blessed with her son, “D.J.”, and her daughter, Rachel and was very proud of them.

Family was very important to Susan. She loved the special get togethers at her Cousin Cindy’s house where making memories, games and food were ever present! These gatherings were also held annually at Nags Head with extended family enjoying the beauty and peacefulness of the beach. Susan also loved her best friend, Lynn. Their support for one another was truly special. Lynn’s adoption of the family may not be finalized; however, her role as a member of the family has been vital.

It was amazing how God’s plan for Susan’s testimony of faith was revealed time and time again. To witness the effect of Susan’s testimony was truly special and humbling.

The family wishes to thank the following medical professionals for the loving care and support they extended to Susan:
• Dr. Mark East, cardiologist
