Susan Elaine Holden

Passed Away: September 27, 2021

CHESAPEAKE – Susan Elaine Holden (Sue), 76, died September 27, 2021. Sue was born in the San Francisco, CA area to the late Carl and Elfrieda Bauman. She lived most of her teen years in Germany with Georg and Inge Landsman, attending school in Timmendorf. Sue worked for more than 40 years in the Tidewater Virginia area as a Title Specialist for numerous law firms. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of “Cancer Haters United.” She enjoyed playing music, singing with friends and had been in several bands – one highlight was opening for a Johnny Cash concert. She listened to country, especially older music, but also loved artists like Pitbull. Sue was spunky and thoughtful, valuing friends and helping anyone in need. Sue loved to travel. Sue was an outstanding cook, never missing an opportunity to try out a new recipe. Above all, she enjoyed being with, and caring for, her family.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 27 years, Thomas Holden; children, Sandra Wetzel (Clayton), Robert Whitley, Jr. (Mary Jo), Mary Whitley, Billi Cain (Jason), Kevin Nichols (Carley) and Gracie Holden; thirteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; a beloved grand-dog; three cats; and a host of other family and friends.

She wanted her life honored by having a party with family , friends, and anyone whose life she touched. “Celebrate Sue” is being planned for February 2022. Please email your contact information to the family at celebratesueholden@gmail.com. Memorial donations may be made to Relay for Life (www.cancer.org) or the Chesapeake Animal Services at 2100 S.
