Thomas Edward Christiansen passed from this life on Monday, February 24, 2020 in Chesapeake Virginia.  Tom was born in on February 4, 1935 to Christie Thomas Christiansen and Ellen Ogda Christiansen (nee Danielson).

Tom served in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1958 to 1960, and from 1964 to 1966, later working in sales and ultimately as a civil servant at Norfolk naval air station. In 1970, Tom met and married the love of his life, Jo Ann (nee Riffel). Together, they pursued three lifelong passions, their love for their Lord, commitment to family, and sailing the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.

In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his brother Al and his sister Ellen. He is survived by his wife Jo Ann, sisters Alma O’Shields and Rachael Cartwright, sons Christie Thomas and Phillip Edward, step son William Warren Taylor III, and grandchildren Benjamin Thomas and Spencer Davis Christiansen, and William Jacob and Erin Ashley Taylor.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Rock Church, 640 Kempsville Rd., Virginia Beach.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews at www.ifcj.org in Tom’s honor.  Condolences may be left for the family at www.altmeyerfh.com.
