Thomas Mustin, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA surrounded by a loving family.  He was born on February 28, 1932 in Montgomery, AL to the late John and Ruth Mustin.  He began his career as a plasterer in 1948 and ultimately became a building contractor within the surrounding Tidewater area.  He graduated from Norview High School in 1949 and remained associated locally with his surviving classmates until his passing.  On July 3, 1962 Thomas was driving at the intersection of Chesapeake Blvd. and East Little Creek Road when an angel from heaven appeared in his car.  Thomas knew this was his last chance to give his life to Christ.  He immediately emptied his car, drove to Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church on Sewell’s Point Road, Norfolk, VA and gave his life to Christ.  He became an ordained minister for Christ, and was the co-leader of Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, Chesapeake, VA.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Woods Mustin, his two children Gene Mustin (Cindy) and Grace Temple (Tim), five grandchildren, Olivia Clelland (Parker), Emma and Gray Mustin, and Abigail and Rebekah Temple; two sisters, Margaret Collier and Johnnie Woods (Billy), one sister-in-law Loretta Mustin, and a host of other close family/church members to which he will forever be known as “Pepaw” or “Uncle Tommy”.  He was preceded in death by brother Kendrick Mustin, and brother-in-law Robert Collier, Sr.
His family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, 1477 Kempsville Road, Chesapeake, VA, 23320.  Also, the family will receive relatives and friends Saturday, May 18, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, 2500 North Highway 41, Fort Valley, GA.  The funeral service will be Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Fort Valley church location at 2:00 pm.  Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church, c/o Gale Murphy, 4609 Chippendale Ct., Virginia Beach, VA, 23455.

I was deeply sorry to hear of Tommy’s passing. My sympathy to his wife and family. Tommy and I graduated from Norview High School together and have remained friends all these 70 years. It was always so nice to get together with him. He will be missed by so many.

I can rejoice for my Uncle Tommy has met his Savior face to fact. Never once in my life had I ever heard anything negative come out of his mouth. I am sad for selfish reasons but I know he is walking the streets of gold. Jesus welcomed him with opened arms saying well done my goid and faithful servant. Rest in peace Uncle Tommy. I love you

Our love and prayers go out to this soldier’s family. He has inherited his mansion in Glory now. May we all strive to pick up the torch and go forward in His service just as Bro. Thomas would wish for us to do.

I have known Uncle Tommy in as many roles as one can know someone. Uncle, Employer, Contractor, Pastor, Friend… In all aspects he was always the same, never changing and never wavering. Everyone I have ever met who knew him or that I introduced to couldn’t help but like him, he was a friend to all. He was always the hardest worker I’ve ever met, the calmest and most patient man I’ve ever met, and a true Light to those he came in contact with. I’m thankful for all of the memories that we’ve had together. I will miss my Uncle Tommy, but most of all, I will miss my friend.
