Timothy C. "Tim" Minor

February 6, 1952 - September 4, 2019

Timothy C. Minor, 67, passed away September 4, 2019.  He was born February 6, 1952 to Joseph J. Minor and Rebecca W. Minor in Bethesda, MD.  He was a 1970 graduate of Prince George High School in Prince George, VA.  Tim met his devoted wife, Claire, in Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico while they were both serving in the US Navy.

In addition to Claire, he is survived by his three children, Joseph Minor, Sara Riley and Lauren Riner (Troy); his mother, Rebecca Minor; his siblings, Rick Minor (Karen), Krista Ratliff (Frank), Anita Sinks and Paula Britt (J.T.); six grandchildren, Emily, Riley and Jack Minor, Jake Minor and Leah and Abby Riner and a host of nieces and nephews.  Tim was a true patriot and served for nearly 30 years in the US Navy, achieving the rank and title of Command Master Chief.  After his retirement in 2000, Tim pursued an Associates Degree in Horticulture, congruent with his passion for gardening and the outdoors.  He spent his golden years with Claire at their “happy place” on the Rappahannock River, where they were surrounded by friends that quickly became a second family.  He was famous at “the Rivah” for his delicious she-crab soup, made from the crabs he caught himself. Not only was he adept at crabbing and most things outdoors, he was a Jack of all trades with a talent for fixing nearly anything, from electrical systems to automobiles, with skills that would rival any licensed professional.  Tim was also a voracious reader, and was often settled in his favorite armchair with a Kindle in his hands.  When he wasn’t there, he could be found in his garage perched on his stool with a large cup of coffee and the news on the TV.  His passing will leave a tremendous void for all who knew him, as he will be forever loved and forever missed.

A funeral will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 929 S. Battlefield Blvd. in Chesapeake.  Family will receive friends an hour prior to the start of service.  In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be given to either the American Heart Association by CLICKING HERE or the Disabled American Veterans association by CLICKING HERE.
