VIRGINIA BEACH – Tony Edward Hickman, 68, died September 29, 2019. Tony was born in Pasquotank County to the late Smith E.“Smitty” and Louvenia Virginia Lane Hickman. Tony was a US Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam war. He worked in the construction industry driving various types of trucks. Tony was a hard worker and loved what he was doing. When not working, he spent his spare time with his children. He was a great father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, Steve Bobbitt (Karen) of Lynchburg, VA, Lisa Harmon (Jason) of Chesapeake, VA, Tina Phillips (Chris) of Portsmouth, VA, Paula Gattis (Chris) of Magnolia, TX and Kyle Hickman of Virginia Beach, VA; Siblings, Bryon Hickman, Sr. (Dorothy) and Brenda Hickman Platek (Mike), all of Elizabeth City, NC; grandchildren, Shawn, Jenna and Trace Harmon, Jessa and Savannah Leary, Lauren and Christopher Gattis, and Kylie Bobbitt; and a host of other family and friends.
A life celebration service will be held on Wednesday, October 16 at 11:00 am at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk. I didn’t know Tony but from what I understand, he was a good man and loved by his family. I know his daughter from work and I know she cared for him as much as a daughter could, but as a human being, one can only do so much. I am deeply saddened by her loss, and I hope she knows that her Dad understands that, even now! Rest In Piece, Tony PS, Thank You for your service...
