Mr. Victor Jerome Paul, of Newport News, Virginia, died on May 23, 2020 in his sleep at the age of 62.
“Vick” or Victor — as he was known to most, was born July 7, 1957 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to his parents, Howard Leon Paul, Sr and Lillie Paul. They were overjoyed when Vick was their first of four children together. Although the marriage between his parents ended, Vick remained a constant love and joy for both of them. From birth, Vick was reared Christian and kept a personal relationship with our Creator up to his departure. In September 1973, at the age of 16, Vick uprooted with his mom and three (3) siblings and moved to St. Louis, Missouri but would transition back and forth to Tuscaloosa to live with his dad during the summer. Vick and Theresa Byrd (of Atlanta, GA) welcomed into the world their only daughter and child, Vycturea Paul; together they worked to provide for her happiness and welfare. Two years later on Vycturea’s second birthday, Vick joined the United States Army to serve his country and finish his education. Sadly, Theresa preceded him in death but his love for Vycturea grew over the years. During his enlistment, Vick served several tours in Germany and other cities throughout the United States; but received an Honorable Discharge on 10-Aug-1984, regrettably leaving with disabilities that he suffered up to the day of his death. Overall, Vick lived a happy and fulfilled life with no regrets.
Vick was loved and will be missed by his mother, Lillie Paul Graves of St Louis, MO; his daughter Vycturea Paul of Atlanta, GA; his sister Lesia Davis-Valentine (Said) of San Antonio, TX; brothers Howard Bowles of Portland, OR and John Rainey of Tuscaloosa, AL; his uncle Willie Hambright of St Louis, MO; uncle John Paul (Vivian) of Detroit, MI; grandchildren Jeremiah Paul, Amellia Paul and Cynthia “Camille” Lagon of Atlanta, GA; great nieces Brionna, Daisha, Machala, Jennavacia, JaNieva, Jayda, Jordynn; great nephews John Anthony and Maleek, along with other relatives and friends.
His brother Howard Leon Paul, Jr; father Howard Paul Sr; sister Shelia Paul, and a host of other beloved relatives, have all preceded him in death.
