William C. Bauknight, Jr, of Williamsburg Landings Williamsburg, Virginia died June 21, 2021, in Williamsburg, Virginia. Bill was 99 years 11 months old.

Bill was born in Jacksonville, Florida on July 29, 1921, the son of William C. and Nellie Martin Bauknight. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, the University of Virginia, and George Washington University.

Mr. Bauknight engaged in the private practice of law, principally in Northern Virginia and Maryland for forty-three years, being a member of the Virginia, Maryland, and District of Columbia Bars. Bill was a Life Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation and he maintained offices in Fairfax County, Virginia and Easton, Maryland.

Bill was commissioned in the US Naval Reserve in 1942 and served on active duty during World War II and Korea. During WW II his sea duty included participation in the Marianas Islands, the Philippines, and the Okinawa campaigns.

Bill was a past member of The Metropolitan Club of Washington, The Downtown Club of Richmond, Farmington Country Club of Charlottesville, Virginia, the Blowing Rock Country Club, The Tred Avon Yacht Club, and was Past Commodore of the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Club.

Bill was a communicant and former vestryman of St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. He was also a communicant of Bruton Parish in Williamsburg, Virginia.

Mr. Bauknight was predeceased by his wife Margaret Watts Bauknight, his daughter Lynn Ann Bartholomew of Allen, Texas; and his great grandson Parker Shane Isbell of Fort Worth, Texas. Bill is survived by two daughters: Linda Leigh Franklin and husband, Fred, of Venice, Florida; and Rebecca Sue Bauknight, of San Francisco; California; three grandchildren: Whitney Weber Isbell, Julia Margaret Franklin, and Christopher William Franklin; and four great grandchildren: Delaney Leigh Davis, Cooper William Davis, Brooke Hope Isbell, and Hailey Elizabeth Tait.

Funeral services and a virtual celebration of life will be conducted at Bruton Parish in Williamsburg, Virginia, on Saturday July 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Interment of Bill’s ashes will occur at Bruton Parish next to Margaret.
