William E. "Buddy" Strawhand, Sr.

Knotts Island – William Edward “Buddy” Strawhand, Sr., 83, died November 3, 2018. Buddy was born in Virginia Beach to the late Garland and Cordie Flannagan Strawhand. He was a veteran having served in the US Army, retired from the Virginia Beach Public Works Department, a Master Mason, and a member of and former governor of the Moose Lodge. Buddy enjoyed walking, gardening, playing dominos, watching racing and attending Kylee’s softball games. He was predeceased by a son, Robert W. Strawhand; siblings Frances Thieman and Marvin Ray Strawhand; and special friend and brother-in-law, Joe Lee

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Carole Garrett Strawhand; children, Sherrie Foley (William), William E. Strawhand, Jr., and Kristi Schojan (Herman); siblings, Lorine McCoy (Charles), Edna Lee, Betty McClain, and Barbara Ann Murden (Lloyd); grandchildren, Andrew, Kylee, Jason, and Scott; great grandchildren, Ariana, Dawson, and Harper; and a host of other family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake.   A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Princess Anne Memorial Park. Express condolences to the family www.altmeyerfh.com.
