William Henry “Bill” Muehleib, of Virginia Beach, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the age of 95. He was born in Allentown, PA on February 23, 1922 to Henry John Muehleib and Mary L. Elsenbaumer Muehleib. He served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps and was present on December 7, 1941 when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. After Pearl Harbor, he was part of the newly formed “Night Fighter” training group in California. Later he served in the U.S. Air Force and in 1951 he was recalled to serve during the Korean War.
After his military service he had a successful career in sales and in 1971 started his own company, Federal Sales Service, where he provided computer and other technology supplies to the federal government. After building a successful business, Bill shared his time filling integral roles within the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association. Later, he became the last National President of the Association.
Left to cherish his memory; his wife Jo Muehleib; son Jeffrey Muehleib and wife Meridith; son Richard Muehleib and wife Mary; daughter Patricia Barry and husband Shane; daughter Robin DeLeon and husband John; grandchildren Tristan, Stephanie, Catherine, Brian, Timothy, Kevin, Caitlin, Caleb, Carsyn, Camrin and Carrie; great grandchildren Jackson, Callie, Cole, Tucker and Baxter; sister Dolores Foscherari. Further survived by other relatives and friends.
Visitation for Bill will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Altmeyer Funeral Home (5792 Greenwich Rd. Virginia Beach, VA) from 2:00 PM until time of Funeral Service at 4:00 PM. His cremains will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery later this year.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospitals For Children or the Columbia Masonic Lodge #285 A. F. & A. M. . To make a contribution to either fund, please click on the corresponding verbiage in the previous sentence.
