William John Hannigan, Sr. passed away on November 15, 2021, in Norfolk, Virginia. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 17, 1943, to Joseph and Annalise Hannigan. Bill, as he preferred to be called, was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School. He joined the United States Navy in 1960. Soon after he met the love of his life, Patricia Hall, at the USO in Charleston, South Carolina. Their 53-year marriage brought forth two children and two grandchildren. Bill had a long military career, retiring from the Navy in 1980. After the military, Bill worked in the shipyard industry retiring for a second time from Earl Industries as a Quality Assurance Inspector. Bill loved the Navy, football, his friends, and most of all his family. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Patricia. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter Robyn Manson and her husband, William J. Manson; his son Billy Hannigan and his wife, Mandee; his granddaughter, Kyleigh Hannigan; his grandson, Garek Hannigan, and close family friend, Nick Andrada. Bill was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.
