PORTSMOUTH (COCK ISLAND) – William “Wild Bill” Canady, Sr., 80, died August 24, 2021. Bill was born in Portsmouth, VA to the late, Luke Dudley and Elizabeth Cross Canady. He worked as a roofer and was a friend to all, he never met a stranger. He loved sitting outside drinking his coffee and beer just listening to music from some of his favorite artists like, George Jones, Conway Twitty and Elvis Presley. He also enjoyed watching some of his favorite shows like Walker Texas Ranger, Chips, Highway to Heaven and Jeepers Creepers. In the good ol days above all hanging out at the bars with his friends. He was predeceased by the “love of his life” Bonnie Lea, his granddaughter, Holly Lynn Atkins and his siblings, Elizabeth, Eugene, Marie, Jimmy, L.D., Corin, Pat, Buddy and Howard.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Angela Nosay (Neal) of Virginia Beach, Robert Canady of Norfolk, William Canady, Jr. of Peru, Melody Canady of Norfolk, Richard Canady of Yorktown, Lonnie Canady of Chesapeake; grandchildren, Ashley Rowe (WC) of Gates, NC, Tiffany Atkins of Gates, Neal Nosay (Brittany) of Currituck, Wesley Nosay of PA, Brandon Canady of Virginia Beach, Luke and Kennzie Canady of Hobbsville, NC, Gabriel Canady of Yorktown, Nathan and Michael Canady of FL, Amy Lynn Canady of Peru, Amber Canady of Baltimore, MD; great grandchildren, Cadence “Punkin” Rowe, Liam Rowe, Cash Holland, ALora Richards, Benjamin Humphrey, and Lea Atkins, all of Gates, NC, and Jesse and Sawyer Nosay of Currituck; and long life friend Roy Justice and a host of other family and friends.
I didn’t make it to 105 but I love your heart’s out you hillbilly stump jumping red riding curtain climbing crumb snatchers!

He was the first person I have then and up to now, that I have ever saw wear penny loafers with actual pennies in them….loved the man and love the family…my heart is with you!!!

My thoughts and prayers for family and friends. I remember back in the day, I literally was at the house every day with Angie. He is definitely a part of my younger memories.
