CHESAPEAKE – Winifred Brewer, 72, died May 22, 2021. Winifred was born in Binghamton, NY to the late Thomas Ladrigan and Winifred Sullivan Ladrigan. Before becoming ill, she had been an active member of the Catholic Church of Saint Mark. Winifred was devoted mom and Navy wife, a great cook, a loving aunt, sister and grandmother, and enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family, especially her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 49 years, Carl I. Brewer Jr.; daughters, Susan Peckworth (Keith) of Elk Grove Village IL, Patricia Kafka (Michael) of Honolulu, HI, and Debra Brewer-Boynton (Glenn) of Chesapeake; brother, James Ladrigan of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Emma and Benjamin Kafka, Daniel Brewer, and Abigail Boynton; and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 3, at 11:00 am at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Chesapeake, with Chaplain Kevin Myatt officiating. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Amedisys Hospice in Chesapeake for their kind and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association (www.act.alz.org) or the Amedisys Foundation(https://www.amedisys.com/about/foundation).
