Condolences for Gary Arnold Barnette

Gary and I were in the Marines together. We parted ways as he went in one direction and I another, never to get together again. The little I knew of Gary told me that he was a hard working and honorable person.

Dear Joyce and family, We were sorry to hear of Gary’s death. While we have not been in close contact over the past 50 plus years we do have some good memories. We will never forget the time we were going to have to purchase a room AC for Kim (age 2-5) as she needed one because of her heart condition. Gary quickly said, don’t buy one, I have one that we are not using and the next day he brought it to us. We eventually got an all house wall unit and gratefully returned yours. The years Gary and I worked together in law enforcement were an adventure to say the least, so many stories. We shall fondly remember those times he would stop by the house when he had business up this way and visit with us. He would suddenly look at his watch and say I’ve got to go so I can catch the ferry. We pray that all the good memories will be a comfort to you and the family in the days ahead. Carl and Barbara Jensen

Gary was "old school". Always honest, said what he meant, would be the best friend you ever had, and didn't condone any harm to animals. Being born at the end of the Great Depression, and the hard times many went through, may have influenced his hard exterior, and need for personal privacy. He had a passion for law enforcement that gave him an outlet for his private person, and need for excellence. He had a heart for his family, and would do anything for them, and friends. He is at peace now.

Kenneth and family, so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad. I’ve known Gary for many years and even worked with him for a time in law enforcement. He was a dedicated worker and always did a good job. RIP my friend.
