So sorry to hear this news. Scotty and I worked together in EOC years ago when I worked part-time and she truly was one of my favorite co-workers. So kind and patient. We were in Fire Dept Headquarters downtown and we had many great talks in the break room. Sweetest person ever! My Condolences to her family. RIP Scotty! I can still hear your lovely accent.

Stroma and I Supervised together for about 14 years. I consider her a true pioneer in more ways than one. A good example was, we would go to parties with our "Black" brothers and sisters in police fire and rescue, were the only white faces there although all were invited. We had a ball and rock our socks off with our folks! I got to meet two of Stromas sisters Who are just as delightful! She loved her Queen, and made the best Shortbread every Christmas I have ever eaten. ( She used a quarter lb. of butter in every pound she made. I was shocked to hear of her death since she was so full of life. .To your family, I can only say, rest easy with the knowledge that she is at peace with our "God', and I will always enjoy the good thoughts of our lives with her. We shall all meet again!

Condolences to Scotty's daughters who were the stars of her life & to all her family. I worked with Scotty for 20 years at the 911 EOC. As others have mentioned, Scotty was a powerful force and one of the strongest women I've ever met. But Scotty also could be a soft and caring friend. We shared a common thread at nearly the same time, and we shared our experiences with each other. She was a cheerleader with an optimism that paved a path to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Scotty was "that friend" who always lent her shoulder to lean on and understood the emotions when they welled up. Thank you Scotty. I don't believe she left many stones unturned She lived life to its fullest and traveled a good part of our world. Whatever lays beyond our mortal life, I'm sure she will be traveling full force ahead. Peace be with her family and friends.

What an amazing woman. She is a true example of warriors are made of. I will treasure my memories of Scotty. To quote a verse from the last card She sent to me,"Warm thoughts can make the sun a little brighter, the sky a little bluer, the world a little nicer. Just a note to let you know how much you're in my thoughts and heart right now..." You and your family are in my thoughts and heart as well... Your laughter and tales of the places you have visited warmed my heart and made me want to buy a ticket to the next adventure. Mostly, we shared "Nana Stories". She LOVED being a Nana. From one Nana to another I felt a kinship. I will miss our talks. My friend, You will forever hold a special place in my heart.

I have known Stroma for what seems like forever, it is well over 60+ years Stroma was a dear friend in our teens and was my bridesmaid in our twenties. Stroma was one of the strongest characters I have ever met. I think she lived life on her terms and did almost everything she ever wanted to do. . Stroma loved and treasured her family dearly and I believe she survived as long as she did through her love of them.

Although I never met her, I experienced her Sister's caring and support for her during this time of a life well lived and loved by so many. She is free and an "other worldly traveler" now. She is a guardian for her family......watches over them.
