Condolences for Howard “Butch” Scroggins

We met Butch through my husband's acquaintance with Betty at the Recreation Center. We came to love them dearly during their battle with Butch's cancer. He fought courageously, ever the True Believer that "God's will be done." We know he will be missed by many, but believe he is at peace and will have a work to do in his new home. We pray for the peace and comfort of our Savior's spirit to surround Betty and the family during the difficult days ahead. We send our love and appreciation for the special moments we shared with Butch and Betty.

Butch was the most fun man. When I was younger, every time he saw me he would offer me a high five and just before I hit his palm he would flip it around and say I had to be quicker! This would keep me entertained every sabbath and I would make the attempt to catch him on his little trick also. When I got older he would always be willing to talk to me and joke about how I wasn't allowed to get taller than him. I thank God that I had him as an example. Heaven is truly going to be an amazing place.

I am so sorry to hear of Butch's passing. Butch was my cousin and I have wonderful memories of him at family gatherings. The cousins would all play football and baseball in my grandparents back yard. I remember to this day, he would say "you only get 99 foul balls and your out" He was one of the oldest cousins so I don't if that was meant as an encouragement for us younger cousins that couldn't hit the ball straight. We had wonderful grandparents but Butch had a special place in their heart.

Uncle Butch loved his family and loved his Church. He supported all functions and willingness to serve without hesitation. He will truly be missed. See you that great resurrection morning.
