Condolences for Colonel Thomas M. Early, USMC (Ret.)

MajGen R.M. Lake USMC (Ret) posted on 11/19/20

Colonel Early was a mentor of mine before I even knew that was a thing. He helped me grow and become a better man, a better Marine, and a better husband and father. I am grateful and better for knowing him and his family. Sir, I look forward to seeing you on the other side. Ave Frater atque vale and Semper Fidelis.

It was my pleasure assisting Tom these last 10 months. There were many times that I knew he wasn’t feeling well, and still gave me one of his amazing smiles. I will miss seeing him eating his coffee ice cream that he loved so much, and his funny facial expressions. I will miss you Tom ❤️

Marie, our condolences to you and your family in Tom's passing. I know he fought hard until the end, like the Marine he was. Tom helped shape many a young man's life, both in the Marines and in the Commonwealth Challenge program. We enjoyed the many trips and drives along with you and Tom in your white MGB. Take care and God Bless.

Colonel Thomas Early had won our respect at ChalleNGe. Respected of the staff under him was highly regarded by all who worked with the Colonel. To us, the Colonel was an extremely devoted Marine, maintained a cheerful disposition, worked very hard, always with a spirit of which you be proud. I realize that words alone can do little to console you and your family's loss. But I hope and pray that all who knew Colonel Tom Early will know that the Colonel will be greatly missed by all who served with him. May our condolences offer and provide some measure of comfort.

We served together for many years and in many places around the globe. We also ran many miles together and shared many laughs. He was a great Marine who served his country with much honor and distinction. He also influenced the lives and careers of many, including my own, in many positive ways. Peggy and I wish to express our sincere condolences to Marie and the entire family. Semper Fi
