Shirley & family, I am so sorry for your loss. Tom was a great guy. Between his positions with the Navy, at the White House and McDonald Army Health Center, I am sure there are so many memories to savor and share. He had some good stories to tell!! He was personable and kind; he will certainly leave a void amongst many friends and family. Keeping all in prayer. God bless.

Thinking about all those holiday gatherings, playing poker together and laughing all night, with Tom's running commentary throughout the game. We are so deeply saddened by the passing of our brother, and our love and heartfelt condolences go out to Shirley, Joshua, and Ashley, as well as all the extended family. We keep you all in our hearts and prayers at this most difficult time. We are thankful for all the wonderful times we have shared.

Words cannot express how my heart breaks for you Shirley and for your family with the loss of Tom. Please know you all are in my prayers as I ask our Heavenly Father to guide us in providing some comfort to you and your family. I pray as God wraps His arms around you that you are able to find peace in His love. Tom is surely missed. I always enjoyed hearing him tell stories about our Navy but mostly I loved hearing about he and his “lifelong Love”. He would light up as he spoke about Shirley— no doubt about the true love Tom held for his wife. May God be with you all as you navigate through this and please remember you have lots of friends to help you through.

I'm pretty sure Uncle Tom will spend his after life on his motorcycle, riding next to Grandpa and into the sunset. I will miss his smile, humor, and cool demeanor. I believe he's found some peace now. My love goes out to Shirley, Joshua, Ashley, all of his grand kids, and his mother, my grandma, and his siblings. I hope you can hold on to all of the good memories and keep his memory in your heart. My love to you all, and deep sorrow that I and my family can't be there to comfort you at this time. All my love, Danielle

Tom Farnsworth was one of the first of many salors I remember meeting on my first submarine the USS NATHAN HALE back in the fall of 1982. He was not only a fantastic cook, but also an outstanding sailor. It does not surprise me to learn he was selected for White House Duty as the CMC. He was an inspiration to this young Third Class ST back then, and pushed me and motivated me on my quals even though I was not in his division. U will always remember what a great shipmate he was, and good friend. My condolences to you Shirley, and your entire family ... I will place his obituary in our USS NATHAN HALE File at the St. Marys Submarine Museum where I am the Director. RIP Shipmate, we have the watch. V/R Keith Post STSCS(SS)
