A recent memory of Søren. On Memorial day weekend we decided to have a grill out and last time sleepover since we were about to sell our house in Suffolk. Søren came to stay the night before he was headed to Ocracoke. He needed to plug in his his car to charge it so he could make it the next day and asked if it was ok to plug it in at our house. Of course! Then he offers us five dollar for the electric he was going to use. :-) Classic Søren. I’m glad we spent that time together and had become closer the last few years. My deepest condolences to all his family and his beloved partner. The love of the family members for each other is so evident and strong.

I met Soren at Ballys so many years ago. We formed a friendship quickly with his kind heart and his generous smile. He and I were two pees in a pod for so many years. I am thankful for every kind word he shared with me, for his unconditional support, and his energy for living. Heaven gained an angel, and I lost a dear friend today. I will see you soon my love, until we see each other again. I love you! Melyssa

I think most of us who knew Soren are still in shock. I met him when he joined our real estate office and we had some wonderful conversations. He asked questions about my naval career and told me all about his Grandfather to include giving me a link to the book. Always willing to help everyone and an infectious smile i will never forget. RIP peace my friend!!

I had the great good fortune to see Soren when he was last in Ocracoke and we had such a lovely hug and chat. With the loss of this dear man from our lives, a bright spark of loving kindness has been extinguished. But the goodness he embodied and exhibited throughout his life lives on in the memories of each of us whose lives he touched. I’m sure there’ll be a shining new star in the heavens that Soren’s eternal spirit will light. I shall look there for you, dear Soren. May your soul be at peace.

I keep hoping I'll wake up and all this is part of a long emotional nightmare but with each passing day as my heart grows heavier, it's become very clear that it's not. I've spoken to many people and the common denominator is "Why?" For what reason did this have to happen? It makes NO freakin' sense. It just doesn't and man, it SUCKS! I'm hurt, still in disbelief and mad as hell. Soren was like a son to me and knew my own son. He worked for me at Bally Total Fitness for a few years. I knew interviewing him that he had something special, was something special and would be a good fit to my team. Everytime I saw him he came with his own light and lite up the room. We always shared a good laugh and there was never a bad day. The members and his Bally family absolutely loved him. I know what I'm feeling but can't imagine what his family is going through. He talked about his family often with me and I felt I knew them especially his dear sister. He loved her very, very much. I kept up with his family vacations, activities and all the positive things he had done in Hampton Roads. I was a proud Papa. So full of energy that one. All the kind things I've read about Soren since all this is true. He was "that kind of person." Yes, just like my son, he was scolded when he didn't keep in contact. Fast forwarding, he introduced me to Dai-Dai. I got a lot of pics and was satisfied that he was very happy with him and had found real love. I along with many others will miss this man called SOREN. I can safely say that I will never meet anyone quite like him. He was one of a kind. A rarity. I'm begging everyone that knows Sorens family and his beloved Dai-Dai, to keep them in their thoughts and prayers and call them once in a while to check in on them. Unfortunately this journey is far from over and we need each other right now.

Never got the chance to meet you in person, and I only met you on Facebook through our friends. I'm glad I made you laugh at some of the posts on my Facebook page. This is heartbreaking to have heard what happened, and you did not deserve this manner of leaving this earth. May you Rest In Peace and Power my dear friend. Much love. You will be greatly missed.

I didn't know Soren well, but by simply seeing the many messages of love it is not hard to feel the positive energy that he emitted upon so many. He seems to have spread love and happiness to everyone, and it is heartbreaking to know he is gone. It is beautiful to see that his memory will live on through so many. We can all aspire to have an equally outlasting impact on this life as he did. My sincerest condolences to the Arn-Oelschlegel family.

While reflecting on Soren’s departure from this unnecessary and increasingly crazy world, “I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories.” —Leo Buscaglia. Soren’s spark continues to glow and inspire others to perpetuate love, respect and kindness to all. Shalom.

Remember so well how professional and helpful Soren was when he served as office manager for his dad. I remember well when he decided to get a real estate license and for a time, he continued to schedule home inspections for dad. Truly a professional and so saddened by this tragic loss.

To Soren’s family, Life will never be the same however, Soren has made a huge impact on so many lives! He has shown so many people how to live, how to have fun and how to simply live themselves! He will be deeply missed by everyone! I am thankful to have recently gotten the chance to tell him how much I appreciated him ❤️ He himself knew he was greatly appreciated! I’m going to miss him sending me the “vote for me” yearly, I hands down voted for him every time. So many things about him I’ll miss especially his laugh! Oh his laugh always made me chuckle because it was that infectious! I’ll never forget my first month at L&F Norfolk when he and his bestie Samdy introduced me to a place called Taste! That’s one lunch i will forever cherish! Until we meet again Soren, watch over us, visit our dreams and to his family, my prayers are with you!

Soren wasn't just a nice guy. He was genuine, compassionate, lived with integrity and passion, he was funny, and his loss in this community (and my life) will be felt for years. I'll NEVER understand why someone would hurt HIM (of all people!) , because he would've been the first to help that old man get help. This isn't how it's supposed to be. This breaks my heart. I love you, brother. And sending my deepest condolences to your family and our other friends.

Einstein is quoted as saying "There are two ways to live your life; one as if nothing is a miracle. The other as if everything is a miracle." My beloved Soren, you did the latter —and you are my miracle. Thank you for inviting me to be a part of Team Ocracoke 13 years ago. Tim and BJ, you raise one amazing human. Thanks for bringing him into this world. Lasse and Elise, I hope you continue to love others deeply and live your life like a miracle if nothing more than as a tribute to your big brother's honor.
