Sandie, you've left us one day before we could say "happy birthday ". Somehow it seems very fitting for you to go on to rest in the arms of your "Beloved Lord and Saviour"on that day. Have a rest-filled time in your new abode, and gently smile upon us in your usual way. I have loved you from the first when you welcomed me, the new social worker at the Tidewater clinic. We were close then. You were so helpful to me always, showing me around the maze of paperwork I had to deal with. No one was faster than you at typing those lab labels. I was awed by your speed and efficiency when I spent time with you back there in that big office of yours. I enjoyed our lunches... You always ordered the kid's meal ! Oh, how I remember. Although I could not be withyou as much as I wanted to during your time of difficult journey, we knew that our bond would endure. Now, I'll be able to speak to you, feel and see you any time you come across my heart and mind because time and space no longer separate us, my sweet, brave, gentle and strong sister. I love you. Rest in Peace

I love you sis and will miss you. You truly are a beautiful woman- inside and out. And a godly example to all of us. you are always giving of yourself to others and to the kingdom of God. you have been an inspiration to so many; you have added to and strength into my life. Through all of your pain and suffering I never heard a negative word or witnessed a bad attitude. Good days and bad days you were always positive always displaying the kindness and love of God. One thing that really stood out to me that I love so much about you is the importance you put on family. When I look at you and yours the word family rings strong. And even though you have gone on to be with the Lord your beauty and love for family carries on here in and through your children and grandchildren. I so enjoyed the time I was able to spend with you. My regret is that I did not spend enough time. On a lighter note half-n-half will no longer just be the white stuff I put in my coffee

To the Smith family, James & I are praying for you guys - we were sad to hear that Sandie left to walk with Him but we know that she is finally healed. She truly had a servant's heart & we will always remember how much she gave of herself. I'll never forget being pregnant together & delivering within hours of each other just a couple rooms down. We have many memories and her giving spirit/character lives on in those of us whose lives she touched. We are sorry that we can't make it to the service but will be with you in spirit. Lots of love & prayers, James & Shelley Kasten

I have so many wonderful memories with Sandie. She was so amazing in so many ways. I remember when I took her to the hospital in Richmond, all the staff...from nurses to the person who pushed the snack cart around...smiled when they saw her, stopped what they were doing, and came over to give her a hug. She was loved by EVERYONE who met her. Easy to see why. With that big smile and unfailing positive attitude, what was not to love? Another time I took her to chemo here in Norfolk, and it was the same thing. Every member of staff just adored Sandie. How blessed we all are to have had a chance to know her, to be inspired by her, and to be reminded by her what faith, hope, and love look like. We'll see you again, Sandie.

Our deepest sympathy to the Smith family. I knew Sandie Smith as Sis. Smith, a godly woman of faith. Sis. Smith always had a smile on her faces and anytime I was near her she would always, always make sure to not just greet me but ask how I was doing. Both her and her husband were, to me, the symbol of service to the house of the Lord. I would see her in the church kitchen with her husband helping with the SNAC bar at NAC. During service I remember seeing out in the altar praying for kids and others, again a godly servant unto the Lord. Sis. Smith you will be missed, but we are comforted that you are in the arms of Jesus! We pray for God's peace for Bro. Smith, Tina, Steven, Marie, and the rest of the family. We love you all!

Tim from the time you all lived on Lester Ave and I use to pick Marie up for school and when I use to take Sandie to work at Little Ceasers she has always been the same humble person. She was always saying something that would make you laugh even when I felt down she could always make me smile. Our friendship kinda broke down for some time but I want to thank you for helping us rekindle it. I thank you for allowing me to help you out by taking and picking her up from her appointments no matter what she was going through she never complained about any of it she did what she knew needed to be done she was more worried about making me late for picking Robbin up from school then worrying about herself and her being tired. Every one and everything always came before herself. She was one of a kind. I will miss our talks and laughs together but I will always hold on to the memories. Forever in my thoughts. Love you my friend.

I am so blessed to have had you as my Mother (in law) for all those years where own was absent you welcomed me with open arms and a warm smile every time, no matter what I did right or wrong you were there for me. I learned so much about life from you and will cherish those memories all my life. My girls couldn't have asked for a better grandmother in their lives, I miss you and please know that if I could have attended your ceremony in person I would. God bless your soul Mama, and enjoy the rewards you worked so hard for up there. Hopefully one day I will see you again.

Sandie you left us too soon. We weren't ready to let you go. I thought of an old song & was comforted by the words: God is too wise to be mistaken God is too good to be unkind So when you don't understand When you don't see His plan When you can't trace His hand, trust His heart, Miss you....Till we meet again....

I will forever remember her beautiful smile, her loving heart, and her generosity. I always admired her love for her family and was privileged to have her as my best friend. She taught me so much, probably more than she knows. Although God's calling for me took me far away, my love and admiration for her never lessened. I am thankful for the time God gave us together. She will be forever missed!

So hard to believe that time got away from us. I remember meeting you when our spouses served our country together and we both ran a daycare in our military homes. It seems like so little time has passed. You were an encouragement to me then. I appreciate your dedication to your family and to God. You will be sorely missed. God bless your family.

Comfort of The Lord Jesus be with The Smith Family and All Sis. Sandie loved ones, friends . Yes , she will be greatly missed by All , Yes her memory shall forever live on in the hearts of All that knew her, Yes her characteristics , teachings and her Faith shall live on in her children and her childrens, children. For Sandie lived, hoped, dreamed, taught her children to see The Lord Jesus Christ one day! and that one day has come for her to be forever present in the presence of The Lord . For yes, this is a sad time in the missing of her on this side of eternity BUT we are of the children of Hope. 1Corinthians 15:20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 1 Thessalonians 4:14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. rom 5:5 For Hope makes not ashamed because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. So , we shall rejoice for we All shall see her again and forever be with her in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we shall sing together in heaven and shout the victory ! for in a little while will be with the Father can you see smile .

I really didn't know sis. Sandie very well, I hugged & greeted her a few times. Every time she had a smile on her face. I wish I have known you better. Even before I came to NAC Tammy Bell told me about you. I could tell that you were someone very easy to love. We may not understand but God sees fit to take you. See you when I get there in heaven.

Sis. Sandie Smith you will be truly missed. I have driven you a couple of times to Richmond and I must say we have had wonderful conversations going and coming back. You made the trip so easy and doable because you talked about faith and the goodness of the LORD! YOU still had a praise on your lips inspite of your sickness! I will forever hold on to that.

You will be greatly missed but heaven has gained a precious gem. Always had a great time at East Coast Women's Conference when we roomed together with lots of laughs, late night snacks and getting in trouble. I remember our trips to Richmond (which were much too early) and we had to stop by Hardee's for the biscuit sandwiches (you got me hooked). Love you Sandy and will see you on the other side.

Even though I didn't know Sandie too well, the couple of times I visited her home she was such an angel. Even while battling her illness she wanted to make sure everyone felt comfortable and taken care of in her home. I know her son and her husband very well and they are amazing people, you can see that Sandie and Tim raised wonderful children. I wish I could have known her more but from what I did get to know she was an amazing woman and a true Christian. Rest in Peace Sis. Sandie.
